Love to Remember

Love to Remember 2011 :  This was my first time to my grandfather's ranch. The last time I started for this place turned out to be dreadful. I couldn't stop the tears when I saw the place my family died. The journey was comfortably silent and Mr. Callahan was not much of a speaker though. The house was quite big for two old people to live but it would've been great for a young man to start a family. It was dark as we entered and Mr. Callahan went into switch on the lights. The house felt more than welcoming like coming home. I felt a sense of relief suddenly. The feelings were very much confusing as I stood on the doorway.

"Come on in" Mr. Callahan said interrupting my thoughts. "I'll take your things to your room" he said moving into a door and I followed him up the stairs to a room. The room was nice and clean. "You'll find everything you need in here. Take rest. Goodnight" he said closing the door. I looked around the room for sometime and went into the bathroom to wash my face. I fell on the bed which was so soft like feathers sinking into a deep slumber.

The next morning I woke up, brushed and opened the door to a nice aroma of hot pancakes. I went down the stairs and into the kitchen and saw him tossing the pancakes in the pan by it's handle.
"Good morning Mr. Callahan" I said announcing my presence.
"Good morning" he said nodding at me with a light smile. I was looking around the well furnished kitchen. "Jane" I heard him call me and turned to look at him. "If we'll be here like this, then, we can at least be like friends" he said and I nodded smiling assuringly at him. "Then please call me Fred, right?" he said smiling too.
"Agreed" I said and sat to have my breakfast when he set plates for us. Taking the coffee mug in my hand, I went to the front porch to see how the place looked like. There was a black sedan standing completely out of place. I wondered if I had come here by that car coz I was not focused on anything yesterday.
